Georgian Bay Salvage has been involved in the marine industry on the waters of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron since being established in 1992. We have established three home ports: Hindson Marina (Penetanguishene, ON), Killbear Marina (Carling, ON), & Wright’s Marina (Britt, ON).
Since our inception we have developed a great working relationship with marinas, marine contractors, tug operators, barge operators as well as private boat owners and insurance companies throughout Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, and the North Channel.
We are acknowledged by the O.P.P. Marine Unit, Thunder Bay Coast Guard Radio, Prescott Coast Guard Radio, R.C.C. Trenton, Parry Sound/Sarnia Coast Guard, and Boat U.S. for our professionalism, efficiency, timeliness, and success in handling a wide range of challenging maritime situations.
Our vessels, Canadian Effort, Miss Natalie, and Sparky, monitor Channel 16 around the clock from ice-out to ice-in (24/7 & 365), ensuring continuous coverage and readiness.

50’ Floating Gantry Crane
Constructed of two 50-foot-long, 6-foot-diameter steel pipes with a parallel travel lift connecting them, this crane features four 10-ton chain falls, one at each corner. It can lift vessels up to a 20-foot beam and is open-ended, accommodating vessels of any length. Capable of traveling anywhere on the Great Lakes, this floating gantry crane is ideal for transporting severely damaged vessels.

The 32-foot registered steel workboat is powered by a 240HP turbocharged Perkins engine with a Bravo 2 outdrive. Canadian Effort is equipped with 1200 feet of towline and features three salvage pumps along with various other salvage gear, ensuring it’s fully prepared for any towing or salvage operation.
